Dominance, Leveling, and Egalitarianism in Primates and Other Animals
A working group at the Santa Fe Institute.

Conveners: Joan Silk, Robert Boyd, Samuel Bowles, Timothy Clutton-Brock and Carel van Schaik.

We consider aspects of ecology, demography, biology, and social-economic conditions contributing to social dominance and inequality as well as leveling and egalitarianism in group living primates (and other animals) and seek to assemble comparable cross species measures of critical dimensions of this process.

The working group is supported by the Behavioral Sciences Program at the Santa Fe Institute, and the European Science Foundation and the U.S. National Science Foundation.
